My light bulb moment........

"Ok! She is asleep, I will put the kettle on, make a coffee & have some me time before I get stuck in to some bookkeeping"

I take my first sip & BAM!

" Mum, Mum, Poo poo, Poo poo!"

OH NO! I run into her bedroom open the door and BAM again, the smell hits me right in the face!

Does this sound familiar? Or does it just happen to me?

I started a bookkeeping business from home when my little one was 9 months old. The driving force was money! I thought 'perfect I can work from home, get paid & not have to pay for child care!'

As I started getting busier my days got more and more hectic, some nights I would stay up late just to get it all done and I am guilty of turning on ABC kids & letting her watch it for a couple of hours!

As anyone in the bookkeeping industry knows, charging by the hour is the going thing, How the hell do you do that with kids?

I soon realised I am not a night owl and I NEED my sleep! This working from home thing is a tough gig!

I googled childcare alternatives only to be disappointed! I thought what if there was a place you could go to get work done while my missy is in care, playing with other kids!

This was my light bulb moment!

This was an idea for so long that it sat in my mind for over a year before I decided I had to act on it!

I had heard of the cities having these sorts of places but not any regional areas & with so many of us Mums & Dads trying to make it in the business world, it lit a fire in my belly.

And the Playdesk concept was born!

P.S During the writing of this article I only had to deal with a cranky 2.5yr old climbing up on me twice! :-)
